Celebrating my 34th birthday tomorrow. 

I wasn't sure I wanted a cake. But by the time it was cooled and ready to be decorated I knew what I was going to do.

Didn't really turn out how I wanted, but now my name is written across the sky 

Overseas baby shower cake

Today is a very special day for a very special baby.
It's her baby shower.

Not that she's born already, but she's close to coming into a new world.

This cake is for the family in Suriname, since the baby shower is in the Netherlands. They will be joining in on Skype.

Amekeina is turning 10!

I still remember last year's Disney Princess cupcakes for Amekeina's 9th birthday.
I enjoyed making them so much because it reminded me of when I was a little girl.

This year her sister ordered chocolate cupcakes with polka dots and bows.

And lucky me, I got to give it to the birthday girl herself.
So I could see the "waawwww" expression on her face.

Ashley's 7th birthday Barbie cake

The top cake is vanilla with almond buttercream.  And bottom chocolate with almond buttercream.

Of course Ashley and her little sister where so excited. And delighted. 

I'm glad I bought the Wilton cake pan to help me make this cake.

In about 4 months Ashley's sister Sabrina wants the same cake in different colors.

Crafting Tutorial: DIY Tassle

Yesterday was Evian's 10th birthday and today's the party.

Square 2 tiered chocolate chip cake with zebra print and cupcakes with white buttercream frosting topped with zebra print fondant toppers.

Everything done by hand.

Easy Chicken Patty Recipe

Today we're doing a quick and simple recipe.

Ground meat is something so versatile that you can transform it into basically anything.

Even though I wanted to have a really nice big bowl of spaghetti, the patties make way for burgers and salads.

Shrimp Scampi Recipe: Shrimp in White Wine

As we shift back into our routines of our daily life, we still can't help but day dream about the wonderful meal we took home from Red Lobster.

This is obviously a plate that has more items then the menu from Red Lobster, but I just wanted to share the yummy lobster tail, the spare ribs, the shrimp and the really really good buttery lobster biscuits. 

I think I, shamelessly,  had about 4 biscuits in total.

By the way, it was the first time I had lobster, and I must say that I enjoyed it.

Now back to the Shrimp Scampi Recipe.

Fritada de Chancho Recipe: Braised Pork

This past weekend, we tried out a recipe from Laylita, called fritata de chancho. 

Now we've adapted this recipe to ingredients we had in the fridge and the pantry. So this will definitely not taste the same. Or look the same for that matter.

Because today is Gisele's 1st birthday!
Her mommy asked us to make a special birthday cake. 
And so, we're giving you a tutorial for how to make a ladybug out of fondant or gumpaste.

Patacones Recipe: Cooked Fried Plantains

In April 2014, I visited Guatape in Medellin Colombia, with some friends. After a great walk up the mountain, and of course back down, we had lunch at a very nice bar/ restaurant, called La Fogata.

As an appetizer, we ordered patacones, also known as cooked fried plantains (at least that's my translation).

Pictured here, is one of their fish dishes, and under the fish you can see one of the patacones.

Ftoyer Recipe: Cheese, Beef and Spinach

I've been wanting to eat ftoyers fatayer) for quite a while now. So we decided to try and make them. 

This dough is easy, doesn't rise - takes about half an hour to just sit there - and is so soft, you just might eat half the batch.

After Google-ing and YouTube-ing several recipes, we decided to try one, tweak it, and share with you.

Fiadu rolls

We made fiadu rolls for mothers day last night.

No machine ice cream

Last night I finally had the chance to try out Gemma Stafford's no machine ice cream. 

But since I didn't have condensed milk I had to look for alternatives.
Lucky me, I found out that she'd used coconut milk to make dairy free no machine ice cream, and tried it out.

This ice cream is made with almond milk, sugar, vanilla and heavy cream.   

And I added  different sprinkles to every batch to make them a bit more festive.

Every year around this time, 

Mrs. Gladys calls to order a double chocolate birthday cake
